Summary: This novel is about a girl named Esperanza who lives in the Mexico with her family. After her father is killed, she is forced to move to California and start a new life. It is a difficult transition for her. The book talks about the journey she went through.

Summary: One Crazy Summer is about three girls who go in search for their mother. Their mother abandoned them sever years before. Their mother seems to not care much about her daughters. Rather, she is invested in becoming a poet.

Teacher Evaluation: I read this book in school and want my students to read it as well. This book is a little more intense, therefore the most appropriate grade level would be 4th or 5th graders. It would go along when learning about WWII in social studies class.
Summary: The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is about two boys. The setting is during WWII when Adolf Hitler was a dictator and getting rid of Jewish people. A little German boy named Bruno meets a Jewish boy name Shmuel. They become friends and learn about each other. Bruno soon learns why his friend Shmuel is in a concentration camp.

Summary: Number the Stars is about a girl named Annemarie Johnson. During this time, WWII was occurring in Copenhagen, Denmark. Her and her family try to help Jewish people. One of those Jewish people was her friend Ellen. Ellen pretends to be Annemarie's sister in order to safe her life.
