Summary: The Oldest Students is about an old African American woman who learned how to read at the age of 116. She was born into slavery, therefore she was not allowed to learn how to read or write. However, that did not stop her from achieving her goals.

Summary: This book is about space and everything that is in space. It talks about the planets, sun, moon, stars, and more. It gives great characteristics about each object. Students can learn from this book.

Summary: This book is a biography about Martin Luther King. It talks about his childhood and how he grew up to be the person he was. It talks about what he did to gain rights for his people. Also, his movements and achievements.

Teacher Evaluation: I would read aloud this book to 1st or 2nd grade. I think they have background knowledge of what Hip Hip music is and would like to know where it started from.
Summary: This book is about how Kool Herc became a DJ. His music stopped fights in gangs so they can dance to his music. Also, the music he invented became popular and created a new culture in which we still use now.

Teacher Evaluation: This book would be a great read aloud to 2nd or 3rd grade. Students would love to hear a story about a dog since at this age the love animals. I think they will enjoy the reading and be amused by the sled dogs.
Summary: Togo is about a dog who was not capable of becoming a sled dog. However, his trainer pushed him and before he knew it, he was the fastest sled dog in history. Him and his trainer, went on a run across the the frozen Arctic to deliver a serum that saved people from a life threatening outbreak.
